Sometimes you need quickly the texture of a material or the image of a small object. To achieve this the best way would be to use a camera but you do not have it. If you have a scanner, then you are saved. You can successfully use the scanner to capture the textures of certain objects or materials: grains of sand, beans, staples, dry leaves.

Metallic look good when scanned. You can try a couple of pins, coins, jewelry and get surprising results. Also you can use the scanner as an “electron microscope” to study different structures or material defects.
