
Olympus has introduced the E-5 professional DSLR, replacing the E-3. Nearly three years after releasing its precursor, the company has renewed its professional flagship to reveal the characteristics of its newest E-series and Micro Four Thirds cameras. The E-5 is built around the weather-sealed body from the E-3 and provides a 12Mp Live MOS sensor, 2.7″ 920k LCD, Live View with Contrast AF, HD video recording and shutter speeds as high as 1/8000th sec. It will be available from Oct 2010 at an estimated retail price of $1699.99.
Whether composing still images or HD video, professional photographers will appreciate the Olympus E-5 SLR camera’s 270 degree dual axis swivel 3.-inch Live View LCD because it covers all the viewing angles from low to high and also side to side, providing precise composition and offering possibilities for creativity. Real-time image monitoring of white balance and exposure enables greater creative management of settings. The LCD displays 920,000 dots in vivid color and includes HyperCrystal® technology, that provides many times the contrast of conventional LCD monitors for easier viewing in each preview and playback modes. Olympus E-5 SLR camera also offers a wide viewing angle providing that images can be composed from even the most obscure angles.

A 3-inch LCD monitor is also included in this digital camera, which has a 920k pixel resolution. This display can also be rotated on 2 axis, permitting taking pictures from below or above. An optical viewfinder is also integrated, having 100 % coverage of the taken image. Olympus furthermore promises that the body of the Olympus E-5 SLR camera is completely splash and dust proof, and also the sensor contains their Supersonic Wave Filter dust removal technology.
